April Luncheon

Guest speaker: Keith Cottrill with Innovative Land Ventures

Title: Profits Escaping from Your Oil and Gas Operations as we Transition into the New Normal

Keith Cottrill is co-founder of ILandV. He retired from the Air Force in 1998 after serving 20 years as a Command Instructor Pilot. During his time in service he was a University Instructor at the Air University in Montgomery Alabama and also served as the Director of Curriculum for the Air Force’s Squadron Officer School. Following his retirement, he went on to teach as Senior Instructor for Air Force Junior ROTC at Bossier High School, served as Head Soccer Coach for the boys’ soccer team, and was honored as All City Soccer Coach for two consecutive years. For 10 years he took his soccer experience to the college level as a Division I College Soccer Referee and certified Instructor for NISOA college referees.

In 2007, with his father-in-law, Jack Ross, as his mentor, he began his work as a Professional Landman. While working in shale plays, in Louisiana, Montana, and Mississippi, he acquired his RPL certification within AAPL. With his experience in Phase I/II assessments in Texas and Due Diligence work in Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Texas he realized he had an opportunity to merge his flight and Landman experiences through the utilization of Drone Operations. Keith has expanded his expertise into Infrared, with a Certification in IR Thermography. This has allowed the companies Drone Operations to provide Certified IR inspections of all phases of the Oil & Gas Industry. During a recent visit to Beijing and Linzi China as an invited consultant and technical advisor on IR, OGI and Drone Operations in the Oil and Gas Industry, he was the first person to fly and detect with an OGI equipped Drone, significant methane gas leaks in refining and distribution facilities on the Asian Continent. Keith has been to China twice as a consultant for SAGE International to demonstrate, train and consult the use of Optical Gas Imaging camera in the detection of Gas leaks. Currently partnered with 4C in providing consultation in UAV operations and is a guest lecturer at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette in their Petroleum Land Management program. Keith has lectured at several American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) Training Seminars on Quad Oa Regulations and UAV operations.

His wife, Jacquie, and Keith just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with their two sons Ross and Jack Cottrill. They all work to continue the family business, Innovative Ventures, started by Jack and Joy Ross. Innovative Land Ventures brings the future of Drone Operations into the Landman Profession that Jack did proudly and with honor for over 60 years.

Join us Friday, April 30th for our luncheon as our speaker has also provided a door prize to be given out.

The AAPL has approved this event for 1 CE credit.
