The Assassination of Huey Long: Atty. Tom Angers to Share Latest Evidence in Louisiana's Most Controversial Mystery
Oil and gas, slick politicians and frontline heroes--Louisiana has a rich history and supply of them all. Local attorney and publisher W. Thomas Angers has spent most of his life compiling information about these subjects and will be sharing his thoughts at LAPL's February meeting.
The assassination of Huey P. Long--and the possible conspiracy to pin blame on Dr. Carl Weiss--is on one of the topics Angers will cover in his talk. In 2004 Angers published "My Wars: Nazis, Mobsters, Gambling & Corruption" based on the actual words and documents of those integrally involved in the event. Most notably, the late Col. Francis C. Grevemberg, local World War II hero under Gen. George Patton, figures prominently in the discovery of evidence pointing to a cover-up. "My Wars" recounts his experience as head of the Louisiana State Troopers and his passionate endeavor to clean up the post-Long system.
Angers is profiled in the 2004 editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the World. He is a former research assistant to the Institute of Civil Law Studies at Louisiana State University Law School. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University Law School in 1976. The biographies include good citizenship and meritorious service medals of the Sons of the American Revolution. The biographies cite further civic activities, awards, honors and achievements including various titles held in local organizations.
Because of the Mardi Gras holiday and NAPE the following week, the meeting will be held Thursday (instead of the usual Friday), Feb. 16, at the Petroleum Club. Social at 11:30 a.m. Meeting at noon. Lunch is $15 per person; checks accepted payable to LAPL.
Please RSVP to marthamills22@gmail.com by noon, Wednesday, Feb. 15.
